This project aims to improve the performance and safety of belt sanders used in the wood processing industry. Existing belt sanders have several major drawbacks such as high noise output, lack of effective dust extraction systems, and disruptive vibrations. To address these issues, this project proposes enhancements including the addition of a vacuum system for dust extraction, noise reduction, and vibration minimization. Additionally, additional safety features on the cutting blades are introduced to protect users during the cutting process.
A comprehensive literature review was conducted to understand dust extraction technology, noise and vibration reduction techniques, and safety aspects of wood cutting machines. The project methodology involves designing a new machine, testing noise and vibration levels, data analysis, and user safety evaluation. Comparative data between the old and improved machines will be analyzed to assess the effectiveness of the enhancements made.
The improvements are expected to increase user comfort and safety, creating a cleaner and quieter working environment. The findings of this project are anticipated to make a significant contribution to the wood processing industry and worker safety. With an effective dust extraction system, lower noise levels, and minimized vibrations, the improved belt sander machine can deliver better performance and ensure user safety.
